In this area of the website, you will find details of our ambitious new primary curriculum.
At West Green Primary School we aim to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils, through all aspects of our curriculum. We believe the curriculum should provide the knowledge and skills pupils need for every stage of their schooling, as well as supporting them to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. We always work to get the best from every pupil, and are proud of their achievements.
With this in mind you will find how each subject is sequenced, in order to provide challenging and coherent progression of knowledge and skills, across our pupil's time at West Green, whilst following the guidance set out in the National Curriculum. The primary curriculum builds on the great start that children get in Early Years (Reception).
At the bottom of each page, you will find our progression document for each subject. These set out the key skills and knowledge our pupils will learn, which are carefully sequenced and built upon to ensure a coherent, progressive and challenging curriculum. Furthermore, you will find the overviews for each subject, which detail the topics for each half term, with the key vocabulary being focussed on.
